Hey all again! A new major demo has been dropped!


This new demo features MANY MANY changes to the game including 2 brand new level (bringing to a total of 7!), a new world map, general aesthetical changes and even Nadine having a slight redesign! The full Changelog is below this paragraph!


Here is the current changelog since the SAGExpo 2022 demo release.


SAGEXPO DEMO 2022 V1.2
-Removed leftover wall tile in Abandoned Mines Round 3
-Fixed bug where restarting the stage does not reset the timer sometimes
-Level timer now resets whenever you die with no checkpoint.

SAGEXPO DEMO 2022 V1.1
-Fixed issue where healing capsules could not be picked up in Minecart in Abandoned Mines Round 3.

New Content
-A proper level select in a form of a world map.
-2 brand new levels: Hightop Mountain Round 3 and Abandoned Mines Round 3.

Gameplay
-Dropped Items now bounces in pits, giving the player a chance to grab them.
- Spikes now do 7 points of damage instead of 6, making it more dangerous. However Spikes no longer damage you from their sides.
-Level Title Card transitions way faster now.
-There is now a Restart function in the pause menu.

Weapon Changes
-Flame Cannon's damage output has been rebalanced. It now does noticably less amount of damage from afar but do way more damage closer ranged.
-Flame Cannon ammo consumption is reduced from 1 to 0.75, making the weapon last longer by 25%.
-Remote Missile recoils you slightly less now.
-Cluster Bomb's damage output has been nerfed. The main bomb goes from 8 -> 5 damage while its little clusters goes from 3 -> 1.
-Twin Laser bounces only 3 times now (from 4 previously).
-Twin Laser's ammo is more limiting now, consuming 8 out of 100 Ammo Energy per shot.
-Twin Lasers can only be shot 60 frames between each other instead of 20 now. Making it less spammy.
-Using Twin Lasers halts the player's movement (from 10 to 20) frames.

Level Design
Hightop Mountain Round 1
- The forest section gets a slight revamp, featuring giant trees in the foreground.
- Name changed from "Morning Hills" to "MORNING HILLS".

Hightop Mountain Round 2
- The waterfall section gets a major revamp, featuring giant trees in the foreground like Round 1, replacing the little platforms between falling bridges.
- Name changed from "Sunset Summit" to "SUNSET VALLEY".

Hightop Mountain Round 3
-Added to the game.
-Name of the level is "MIDNIGHT SUMMIT"

Abandoned Mines Round 1
- Few enemy placement adjustments for a less frustrating experience.
- There are very slight adjustments to the level design to fit in the new door tiles.
- Name changed from "Mysterious Island" to "ONYX QUARRY".

Abandoned Mines Round 2
- The Challenge Score has been adjusted from 35000 to 33500.
- More gems are placed around the stage to achieve the Challenge Score easier.
- The Crate Room has few adjustments to its design, making some jumps less frustrating.
- Blastbat enemy's AI has been adjusted a bit to make killing it less difficult.
- Blastbat placements has been slightly altered around to make its attacks less of a surprise.
- Camera has been adjusted in the Crate Room.
- Name changed from "Deep Caverns" to "RUBY CAVERNS".
- Minecart gets a sprite revamp along with its missile. And said missile now leaves a trail of smoke.

Abandoned Mines Round 3
-Added to the game.
-Name of the level is "AMETHYST TUNNEL"

Molten Factory Round 1
- Name changed from "Red Hot Machinery" to "REDHOT MACHINERY".


Aesthetics
-Nadine's design has alterations such as skin tone and a slightly more blue color tone to her arms and legs.
-Nadine's pallete is revamped overall with a slightly more saturated pallete such as all the greys having a bluer tint.
-Nadine's animations also are revamped with better posing and smoother head rotations.
-Hightop Mountain gets an overall aesthetic overhaul including new ground tiles, grass floors, adjusted pallete and large trees.
-Abandoned Mines gets an overall aesthetic overhaul as well. The overall pallete is less muted, many tiles has been touched up, decor such as pipes are added and the ground progressively darkens creating a more suitable atmosphere.
-Gems now shines differently. The different colored gems also syncs with the shine as well.
-The general font trades away gradient shading for a more cleaner shade to make it more readable.
-Some level icons has been adjusted to fit the current look.
-Every level name has been uppercased.

Bug Fixes
-Fixed bug where Nadine's animation stops when she's pushing a wall while shooting.
-Fixed bug where Nadine can take damage from the side of the spikes. Now only the pointy parts of it is the hurtbox, making certain spike sections way less frustrating.
-Fixed oversight where coyote time did not apply to slide jumps.
-Fixed bug where jumping from a slide on the very edge of a platform resets the momentum.
-Fixed Minecart being unable to do short hops.
-Fixed weird camera issue where the Minecart does not recenter the vertical camera while on ground.
-You can no longer jump over a minecart and skip using it.
-Fixed bug where the camera doesn't change when you accidentally jump over a camera trigger in Abandoned Mines 2's elevator section.
-Fixed issue where climbing up hinders your sight due to the camera's margin system. Now the game auto centers as you climb for better view.
